County leaders meet with Governor and other state leaders on creating more jobs for Floridians.

Creating jobs. That was the focus of the recent Enterprise Florida meetings in Tallahassee this week. Enterprise Florida is the economic development arm of the state of Florida and its main mission is to help innovative, high growth businesses start up, locate or expand to Florida.

Citrus County Animal Services first annual BFF – "Best Friend Fest" - An Animal Adoption Extravaganza - will be held at the Citrus County Auditorium on Saturday, February 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Citrus County Chronicle and the Humanitarians of Florida, is dedicated to promoting adoptions and educating the public on ways to care for their furry friends. The focus will be on education, awareness, and increasing adoptions. Citizens will have the opportunity to meet neighborhood veterinarians, enjoy one-on-one with prospective groomers, or just come to share that common thread – the affection we all have for our pets. Face painting for the kids too!

Citrus County Department of Development Services, Building Division announces there will be no Inspections or Plans Review on Monday, February 13, due to a required Continuing Education Class, for new building code changes that come into effect on March 15th.

Shake, Rattle and Roll at Elvis Event - There will be a "Whole Lotta Shakin" Goin' On - at the 3rd annual Elvis show starring Billy Lindsey at the Citrus Springs Community Center on Saturday, February 18th.

This interactive walk down memory lane is sure to leave you 'All Shook Up'. So, 'Don't Be Cruel' and put on those 'Blue Suede Shoes' for a night of singing, dancing and great entertainment. Doors open at 5:00 PM and the show begin at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $5.00, and must be purchased in advance at the Citrus Springs Community Center. Hamburger and Hotdog plates will be available for purchase. Only 300 tickets will be sold.

Kid's Fishing Clinic

8th Annual Kids Fishing Clinic - February 25th.

Teaching children a lifelong hobby, appreciation for our marine environment and a fun family outing are the objectives for the Kids' Fishing Clinic. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and Citrus County Parks and Recreation present a FREE Kids' Fishing Clinic for children between the ages of 5 and 15 on Saturday, February 25th.
