John ThrumstonJohn Thrumston

County Commission District 4

A St. Petersburg native, Mr. Thrumston, his wife, Kathy, and son, Tyler, moved to Citrus County in 1999. He graduated from Tarpon Springs High School in 1983 and attended St. Petersburg College where he studied business. After owning an interior design company in Clearwater, he moved to Floral City and opened a business in Inverness.

In November of 2006, Mr. Thrumston was elected to the Citrus County Board of County Commission for District 4. His volunteer leadership of the Citrus County chapter of the Habitat for Humanity has directly resulted in a substantial increase in housing for low-income residents. He was personally responsible for organizing the "Sheriff's Safety for Summer" program for school children. His involvement with Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce and the Citrus County Heritage Council all demonstrate that he is committed to bettering Citrus County through his volunteerism and as a commissioner.

Commissioner Thrumston currently serves as a board member of the Citrus, Levy, Marion Regional Workforce Development Council, the Withlacoochee Regional Planning Council, the Public Safety Coordinating Council, the Economic Development Council, the Regional Transportation Authority, and the Canvassing Board.

Commissioner Thrumston and his family enjoy spending their leisure time fishing, hunting, traveling, watching movies, and camping.
