Would like to earn a little extra income?

Then the Senior Companion Program is for you!


The Senior Companion Program (SCP) matches volunteers, age 60 or older, with homebound, at-risk elders who need non-medical support in order for clients to remain independent, at home, and socially connected.

SCP volunteers often provide social interraction, transportation, and a variety of other personal services.

Senior Companions are:

  Over 60 years of age Dept. of Elder Affairs
  Are not part of the regular work force
  Are willing to accept supervision and work under the policies and guidelines of the program.
  Agree to a pre-service criminal background check
  Have a valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
  Complete 40 hours of pre-service training
  Attend monthly in-service training
  LOVE TO HELP THEIR NEIGHBORS

Senior Companions provide:

  • You only need to know how to be a friend.Assistance with important daily activities.
  • Transportation to medical appointments.
  • Shopping opportunities and assistance with meal preparation.
  • A watchful eye to notice when extra care is necessary.
  • Encouragement to remain physically and mentally active.
  • Disaster preparedness information.
  • Assistance with letter writing and varied errands.
  • Community service information.
  • A friendship that can last a lifetime.
