The Department of Public Safety handles issues that affect the health, safety, and welfare of
the citizens of Citrus County.
The Department is made up of several specialized sections and is responsible for monitoring two
private companies serving the County: Nature Coast Emergency Medical Services and the Corrections
Corporation of America (CCA). Fire Prevention, Fire Rescue, Animal Services, Code Enforcement, and
Hazardous Materials/Special Operations are managed under administration.
