Inverness Hangar ceremony

Soaring to new heights! That was the sentiment that kicked off a ground breaking ceremony Tuesday morning at the Inverness Airport. The Inverness Airport is owned and maintained by the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners and operated by the Fixed Base Operator (FBO), William Bachschmidt of Whiskey Bravo Air, Inc. The Airport is located approximately 2 miles south of Inverness on US 41, on approximately 350 acres.Inverness Airport

Inverness Airport is served by one runway, Runway 01/19, which was recently relocated and extended to 5,000' by 75' wide with a full parallel taxiway. The airport has an AWOS, GPS1 and GPS19 approaches, and Jet A and 100LL fuel which is self-serve. The airport has two 14,000 square yard paved aircraft parking aprons. One is located on the north end of the airfield at the existing FBO, and the other is located on the south end where the new FBO/terminal/maintenance hangar is being constructed. The design of new T-Hangars, to be located adjacent to the new terminal/maintenance hangar, is scheduled to begin in July 2012.

Inverness Airport serves the basic needs of general aviation. Approximately 75 percent of the Airport's annual operations are related to sport aviation/recreational flying. Flight training is a small component of the airport's general aviation activity. The Citrus County Sheriff's Office and the Citrus County Mosquito Control conduct their flight operations from the Inverness Airport. The airport also attracts a number of transient or visiting aircraft, with approximately 20 percent of its business originating from visiting aircraft.

Inverness Airport AerialThe County's vision for the Airport's future is to provide a first-class airport for based flight schools, business, recreational flying, and business park development. Inverness Airport anticipates significant growth in the future.
